Is the second muffler welded to the stock muffler?

Just wanted to share a little mod I did to my Rmax. I added a 1-¾ tail pipe. Machine is not only way quieter but also sounds way meaner, throaty-agressive. I used a 16ga mandrel U bend and then a 18ga straight piece and then welded the original tailpipe elbow back on. Made a hanger for it and also I removed spark arrestor screen (leave this in for maximum sound reduction) and had to remove plastic heat shied. Zero power loss maybe has little more if anything. Hey there, I got myself an RMAX last year and have been looking for ways to make it quieter. Came across your post and seems like this it the best option. I live right over in Readfield and was wondering if I could hire you to do the same upgrade to my RMAX? I don't have the welding/fabrication skills to do it myself.

Thanks, Jed.

Couldn't find a mandrel bent piece of tubing? Summit Racing is just down the street, they have them in stock.
We used to live in Fallon, in fact I belonged to Reno4x4 when I had my Samurai. ;)

I miss being close to Summit, they have an incredible selection goodies for gear heads of all types.

I'm not close to any trails but I am 1hr from summitt
Fallon is an hour to the east of Reno. Lots of trails all over northern Nevada or the Sierras for that matter.

Welp, I just ordered the AP muffler and will go talk to our local muff guy and get his thoughts before I order the mandrel bent tubing just to see if he has it. Looking forward to quieting this thing down to keep wifey and our pooch happy, especially when the enclosure is on.

Keep us posted!
He can do it no problem after I showed him the pic of the OP's ride with muff installed. Going to get a sheet of aluminum for a heat shield and still need to get the U-bend and tip ordered since he doesn't have them in stock. But I need to wait until the muffler arrives so I can see how long of tip I need because of my bumper.

Also, I have a db meter on my phone and will do before and after results. One thing about it, if I don't like it for whatever reason, it will be easily removed and I will keep the current Weller tip I have since the stock one will be useless.
