Ok, my parts arrived today, but I have one issue. When I lined everything up, I realized the u-bend 1 3/4" pipe I ordered was too tight. But I knew it looked like the one in the OP. Well, after looking at his closer, I realize he has a different heat shield than I do. Mine drops down a lot further (see pics) and has a large plastic cover it which will force the new muff out further hence making the u-bend I got useless. I took the plastic cover off and put the muffler up there, took a picture of it and took it to the shop. The guy said he could make a pipe that would work no problem.

He can't get to it for another week so it will be a while before I can get results. The pic of mine below obviously still has the Weller tip on it, which will come off before I take it to him. I will keep the plastic shield and Weller tip in case I decide to sell the rig or disappointed in the results, which I doubt. But here are both, the OP's and mine with the muffler where it will be so you can see the difference in heat shields.

SeventyGTX, if you look at my thread titled "More Muffler Stuffler" I listed the Summit Racing U-bend that works for your heat shield.
Thanks, I had forgot about your thread. But I already ordered two elbows that will have to be welded together off Amazon and I can't take a chance on the Summit one getting here on time since I have an appointment. Plus it was about $30 cheaper than the Summit pipe since it was free shipping. Won't be quite as aestheticly pleasing, but should work fine.

I'm a little concerned your exhaust shop couldn't build everything you need without having you ordering parts.

I'm not concerned at all, this is a small town and a small shop with a good rep that doesn't have the room for a large stock. He would have had to order the muffler anyway, so I just got it instead of having to pay their markup. So I just ordered it all.

I would have done it myself if I still had my shop and hadn't sold my welder and most of my tools when we moved here 3 years ago.

Thanks for the info, where did you order the 90 degree elbow? I found the muffler ill order. Just picked a X2 1000 with the same loud exhaust.
You will have to mount it under the stock muffler like the member in post 38 did. You may be able to use the one like I originally got which is similar to what the OP has since it should have the room.. Although I am not that familiar with the X2....

Gotcha, I'm lucky enough to live in a very rural but very agricultural area where there is an exhaust shop on every other corner. From large to small implements so pretty much anything you could need is available. I don't think I know anyone who doesn't have a welder because they are all always breaking things.

Got mine all done and very happy with it, especiallly at lower speeds. Haven't had it on the trails yet, but should be much nicer. My bumper pretty much hides it from the rear. Thanks to the OP for a great suggestion.

I wanted to add a little FYI for anyone else thinking of doing this. I have had a little more time with it and can report temps are the same as before, in the 198 - 207 range at mid 90's temps here in Az. I noticed when I drove it home from the exhaust shop, it was MUCH quieter on startup. I had the DB app on my phone and it measured around 10 db's lower at idle. The odd thing is going down the road at 30-40 it was only slightly less as without the new muff.

After taking it for another spin today on and off-road, I have concluded the high db's on the road is due to tire, wind, intake and just basic engine noise since it's almost under your butt and spinning 4 -6k rpm's. Even though the db's are similar at speed, it is definitely easier to deal with without hearing protection than it was before. No more worrying about the pooch's ears either, although I don't take her on-road very often anyway.

When I went off-road is where it really shines. I mean in normal 10 to 25 mph trails where you are not at a constant steady speed, you can actually carry on a conversation. Much more enjoyable, no more yelling and to be honest I am stoked about it.

Next investment will be a Weller tune and let him know about this new exhaust as well as talk to him about clutch weights or anything that may bring back a little bottom end I lost mainly from the 32's. But in reality, it still runs really good for my purposes. Still gets up and scoots when you nail it. Probably wouldn't win a race against a stock one, but that bothers me not in the least. The trade-off is well worth it.

Ok guys, I did a quick 28 second video on my phone if anyone wants to hear it. Problem is I am a tech dummy and have no clue how to get it on the internet since it is in the cloud. I tried my Youtube account, but it didn't recognize the one-drive link. I can forward it to email if anyone is interested.

Ok, as a test I sent it to my wifes email on her laptop and it worked.

Well got mine all installed, it was a different series muffler, still made by ap.
At idle, my initial reaction was this is crazy. It was very quiet. The faster you go, the delta decreased. Or difference between before and after the mod, that difference shrunk as you go faster. Hope that makes sense. Still at our normal cruising speed 15-30 it made a noticeable difference.
As far as power loss, I couldn't feel any. I'm sure there is I just couldn't tell.

Exactly what I experienced too. First start up was crazy quiet and I laughed and yep, up to around 30 it is definitely quieter and much nicer. Sounds like your seat of the pants was similar to mine, very little if any power loss.

The wife and I can take our pup out in the desert now and not have to yell or stop to hear ourselves. It will be interesting to see how ours is when I put the enclosure on it when the weather gets cooler. It was stupid loud before.
