RMAX spring cup with molded rubber sleeve compared to original X2/X4. Use the RMAX spring cup on your X2/X4. Ignore that metal insert on the original spring cup.

So what would the cost be to have everything replaced with hunter works stuff at the first service and would this prevent constant cvt services? Im not a fan of dealer trips every other month, my local dealers are rapists.

I suggest sending Todd an email: todd@hunterworks.com for a quote. You'll never get away from CVT servicing, only extend the stock servicing interval and my experience is you can double the service interval of the secondary by replacing the stock grease with Tinkseal. By going with the new cam plate sliders you could possibly extend your primary service interval as well, whether you decide to stay with grease (Tinkseal again) or go greaseless.

If you pre order the replacement parts ahead of time and do it yourself- the 1st service is a little intimidating but the following ones are pretty easy. The hardest part IMO is to be able to pull and replace a bearing from time to time. The rest is mostly cleaning out the old grease, inspecting and re-greasing.

Glad to see Massive mention grease or greaseless. You have a choice. If you are not sure I suggest you choose grease.

I am really going to see what is said for the CVT service and design for the 2022 year over the 2021 and earlier.

I thought about upgrading to an X2 for 2022 build but doing an in depth CVT service every oil change is a deal breaker for me. It maybe a bit easier with a tilt box over mine but its shouldn't require it that often. I read the manual on the current x2 and it is specified that often (way to intensive), but not a mention in the Gen 1 manual anywhere. I did it at 7500km last time and the dealer said it was in very good shape only some roller wear which he flipped to use the other side. Now 8000km later I am waiting to get it in to be done again along with new rollers and guides (order but no stock!!).

Currently I am better with the machine I know and manage its requirement just fine.

My 2019 X2 has about 2,200 miles on it so it's time to service the secondary clutch. I want to pre-order the parts. Massive said to use the RMAX spring cup (B4J-17690-00-00) on the X2. Has anyone done this, will I be the guinea pig, is it for certain going to work in my X2?

In addition, I will need :
Tinkseal from Hunterworks
2 oil seals (93101-48004-00)
2 O-rings (93210-50768-00)
Maybe the wet-clutch shaft oil seal just in case (93102-45009-00)
Does that sound like the entire parts list assuming nothing is seriously wrong in there?
You don't worry about replacing the pin guides (4CW-17664-00-00)?
I have the spring compressor for the X2.
Thanks.

That would be great if it was interchangeable with the x2 850 but are you sure they didn’t upgrade the cup for the 21 r-spec models. Why would they make them interchangeably and not put the heavier cup in the 850 if they know that its a problem. If it is interchangeable i would definitely put the RMAX cup in or a better aftermarket one in there if they make one.

Looks like you have all your bases covered. You can use the RMAX spring cup. With NEW parts being in much lower supply than older models, I doubt Yamaha will retrofit anything soon. I doubt you'll need to replace the wet clutch shaft oil seal, but it's nice to have on hand because when you need it, you don't want to wait weeks to get it and you may as well maximize shipping. Never seen a pin need replacement. I'd double up that order on the seals so you have them ready for next service for the O-rings and grease seals.

Decided to service the sheaves early on our squad's RMAX4 at just over 1K miles (this is from the video I just released where I needed a Snickers bar). I'm glad I did. Well, at least 2 channels got grease before the factory worker decided to take a nap. Then again, maybe he/she was just overworked since no one else wants to nowadays. Let's go Brandon!

Thanks for posting all these details and the videos, have been very valuable. We just hit 1k miles and was gonna wait but will be breaking in early after seeing this!

To be fair, this is the first time I've seen this lack of care in the sheaves I've serviced. All the previous ones were greased properly. But, the sooner you switch to TS, the sooner you'll have peace of mind.
