First time using our litter hauler with a patient. We believe could have taken the X4 and RMAX4 up the part of the trail we had to hand carry the patient out on but we just haven't had time to take the vehicles up in a non-call situation yet to confirm it.

This is why the X2/X4/RMAX platform is so perfect for our SAR squad and why a bus-long recovery vehicle simply won't work. This is the part of the trail in my previous SAR video where we had to hand carry using a wheeled litter. The trail has eroded so much that this section is unpassable without some road rash. Can you believe we used to be able to squeeze a Commander Max XT through this (obviously the trail was in much better condition)?

Stay tuned for pushing my RMAX through this gauntlet. This is one of those rare instances where the X4 outshined the RMAX4 due to its turning radius\nimbleness and yes my RMAX4 now has some road rash on the driver's rear fender. I am on a very short list of our members that will be allowed to traverse this section of the trail via SxS.

They might not have the physics defying suspension of the RMAX but the X4 does fit nicely in the garage and can take on some of those 55" trails like a Mom fitting into her old jeans at times. My last ride we were squeezing through some spots not meant for UTVs.

 

I had to take my RMAX4 instead of the squad's as we haven't been able to purchase skid protection and upgraded beadlocks/hard pack tires.

 

Our Yamaha Law Loan RMAX4's helped transport medical to a patient and then our litter-equipped unit got him to the the ambulance. We received around 9" of snow last night. No tracks needed. Thank you Black Hills Powersports and Yamaha Outdoors for letting Custer County Search and Rescue use these extremely capable machines.

Awesome. With some of the tight trails in your area that I’ve seen on your videos, I can’t think of a better machine for that task. Man, those white RMAX4s are really good looking too

 

If you've ever moved an ambulance litter, you know they don't do very well in snow. Even saving 100 yards of having to hand carry a litter through snow makes a big difference. RMAX4 to the rescue:

Have you had yo do your narrowing mods to your search and rescue RMAX's or are they exempt from the width restrictions due to their use that type of vehicle?

What are you thankful for? I'm Thankful for our Law Loan RMAXes. Our Law Loan units were in jeopardy of being lost because of some bureaucratic government regulation BS (nothing that Yamaha did) but we've worked through it.

We received a call yesterday and it initially ruined a lot of Thanksgiving dinners, but after bitching about bad personal decisions and reflecting how bad yesterday's call could have turned out, I'm grateful for a positive outcome and we were able to return to our reheated turkey dinners in the end. I've had to take our RMAX4s through some areas that would have left our previous Commander Max XT's stranded along with our crew. I actually had to use our winch for the first time yesterday because we got into a hairy situation. Don't let the truck in the picture next to our RMAX fool you. That was just final entry point and only time I had to take a picture.

The RMAX wasn't the hero yesterday, but it is an IRREPLACEABLE tool that makes our lives so much easier and allows us to respond so much faster to life-threatening situations. It goes places a $100K Sherp wouldn't be able to in our local terrain.

So thank you #YamahaLawLoan and Black Hills Powersports for sponsoring our RMAX units. Thank you for making vehicles that are practical for us peasants because going 100 MPH in the dunes wouldn't have helped us yesterday and while HVAC would have been nice, dropping our crew as close to the patient in unyielding terrain is more important than delivering them only to the trailhead in comfort. 18 degrees was a bit cold so getting UORP doors installed is priority #1.

Just to add to this. I would LOOOVEE to have tracks for our RMAXes. They would get us easily to certain points on trail #9 but they would make the RMAX too tall to clear some of the rock faces. Filipino ******* tire studs to the rescue
