Right in front of my face...well I never said I was the head cashier at Jiffy Lube.... Still, all this discussion on "offsets", is over my head. I have an RMAX 1000 -4 Standard model. I want to go to a road tire, the Maxxis look great. Would prefer )the 29" as I have a height restriction for my garage (80" exactly) and Yamaha specs say the Standard model is 80". Note I am picking up the RMAX next week and holding my breath it will clear the door. Thus the need for a 28 or 29".
I want to run one size 29x10x14 on all four corners so the Question:: Do I need to install an offset on front or rear. Sorry for this long message. I am obviously new to this machine/forum

The Maxxis Libertys have been fantastic so far for any type of riding that I've done. As far as wheels go. If you are going to run the same size tire on all 4 corners I would recommend buying different wheels because the stock RMAX4 wheels are different widths and offsets from the front to rear. Some people have done the same size tire all the way around on the stock wheels but then you can't rotate the tires without dismounting and mounting. You can try to find someone selling a set of OEM front wheel takeoffs and run that size on all 4 corners because that is what the RMAX2 comes with on all 4 corners. When you go with the same size tire and wheel all the way around an RMAX4 you will end up narrower in the rear than the front though. This is why I put 1" spacers in the rear of mine. This is personal preference. I like to be a bit wider in the rear rather than the front.

Thank you so much for this information. I appreciate your time and experience. I know understand. My challenge is getting the RMAX to sit a little lower as my garage door is 80" Note, don't have my unit until next Tuesday but trying to anticipate a potential problem. Purchased new and was hopilong I could get the dealer to find some new tires for me that are DOT and lower that OEM it is coming with. Dealer not all that helpful.

I'd wait on any aftermarket tires and try it with OEM first. Tell the dealer you want the tire deal if you get it home and it doesn't fit. Run 12 psi or lower in the tires and see if it fits, You may be surprised. You'll probably want to lower the tire pressure anyways for a better ride and more trail capability.

Along with what therebdl19 said. You can always air the tires down as much as needed to get it in and out of the garage and then air back up.

I just purchased a 2022 Rmax 4 Le . When i wear these tires out I wanna go to a square set up with 30x10x14 . I'm fine with the way the factory tires look , could I purchase two new factory front wheels to go on the back and have a square setup ? This may have already answered Sorry in advance if it has and thanks for any help.

You definitely could. The RMAX2 has the same wheels front and back. They are the same as the fronts you have on your 4. The downside is the cost, about a grand for two wheels and tires.
Edit: They are not actually the same on an RMAX2, they are 30x10/14, but the front tires on an RMAX4 would work on the rear too, but they are 29x9/14. I’m not sure with 4 adults in it, that you would want 9” wide tires on the rear.

Just put these together 31 bfg’s on fuel wheels, new RMAX4 is still at the dealer waiting on accessories, I’ll post a picture when installed. Hope they fit! View attachment 100103
Is that your actual tire? I only asked because I zoomed in on your pic and the tire says 32X10X14.

Yes, sorry my bad its a 32’’ tire.
If it's a true to size 32 you will probably have some rubbing so pay attention to the area in front of the rear tires.

I believe that particular tire runs a 1/2” small but you can measure it.
Not exactly sure but I think 31” does clear.
The rub won’t hurt anything if you don’t mind seeing a rub mark.

If you don’t want that then the best way to find out is to jack it up, remove both shocks, mount the tires and then slowly let it down. The rubbing would happen on full compression so this way you could see if it clears. You’d want a bit of extra clearance too because the tire may distort and flex into it in the real world.

If they contact maybe you can get your money back before you run them.

Yes 31in will clear because 32in tires like the Tusk terrabite that run small people seem to not have a problem with. Budro2 said it well. The other time rubbing happens though is at high speeds when tires balloon.
