did someone mention canned ham?!?! :D

Not sure how the commander 700xt will be geared, but my 650 outlander hit 68mph. Rode decent but it was a sport/utility hybrid 4 wheeler. wasn't expecting a Cadillac ride.

one thing to think about as well is that can-am has more of an aftermarket and OEM accessory following compared to X2.

Do the commanders still have the "sauna" effect?
i haven't heard if it's totally gone, but from what i have heard it is better than it's original design.

I do not think you can go wrong with either. The CanAm 700 or 650cc engine is only 52HP compared to 69HP for the X2 . The rest is apples and oranges. Sit in them , look at the features and choose what you like. The 700 Commander only comes in DPS or XT 2 seat versions and will have visco lock in the front diff. Only the 1000 versions can have the locking front diff.

Thanks for the great info....primarily back road driving and some trails. Not needing a speedy unit, comfort in rides on rougher trails would be nice. And looking for the unit with more comfort in seating and more room in the cabin.
You could probably pick up a used Mahindra ROXOR pretty cheap.
I know several buy them, then want something more aggressive later.
I think most of the ones around here in West Virginia are used to run 'special spirits'. :p

Are you saying the Gen 1 has better suspension and handling??lol, the X2 is way better in both fields, its a way better machine than the Get 1 period.
Without a doubt it did. Most on here that had or drove both will agree. Most Gen 1 owners were disappointed when the X machines came out. The only improvement was the noise.

The 3 different ones I have driven (1x 660 and 2 x 700) and road with I would not dream of trading for my X2. In my personal opinion mine rides much better in the whoops and articulates better in the cross ups. As far as power and comfort no comparison also. This can be partially due to setup of the machine but I feel there was a big improvement with the X2's personally.

Pretty sure your thinking Rhinos. They never made the Gen 1 in anything other then the 700 (708) engine. The X2 has less suspension travel, is narrower and heavier then the gen 1 was. I got to drive the Gen 1, X2 and X4 back to back on the same course at a Demo event and the X series was a big step the wrong way in suspension.

Your opinion and my opinion, we are not going to agree and we each have voiced our opinion. I am happy with my X2 so not much else matters. Have a nice night

I just noticed both people thinking the X2 has better suspension are from Canada. The Gen 1's for Canada got different suspension then the USA models. Fox for Canada and KYB for the US. Maybe the Fox set up wasn't as good.

Jraoffroad, my buddy has the Gen1, it is a way rougher ride than my X2, he has adjustable shocks on his, but the ride quality is nowhere near the X2. But everyones thoughts are different, this is my experience personally. I wouldn't trade mine for a Gen 1.

In the market for my first side by side was ready to buy a can am commander xt 700 when available, but recently have started to look at the 2022 WOLVERINE X2 850. Would like peoples thoughts between these two side by sides. Reliable, ride, comfort, unfortunately local dealers have neither at the moment in showrooms to look at either.

Just get the best machine you can afford, if you settle you will end up selling it and possibly losing money, I learned the hard way settling and realizing I hated everything about the machine then ended up buying what I wanted after being unhappy an entire riding season. I'd go with an RMax or a KRX if you don't want something turbod, also the honda talon is pretty cool.

Opinions of others and online reviews are a great place to start, however nothing is better than combining those with physically checking out the machines in person. Even if dealers won't let you take a romp in one you at least get to sit in them and do a good walk around and see things for yourself. Another good thing to do is to check out the SxS riders that live fairly close to you and check out their machines and get their opinions if possible. Most will give you a straightup opinion as in "if I had to do it again I'd have...", or "a few of the biggest problems I've had with mine...". :)
