Some great upgrades for sure and at a lower price is a win win.
I like that Rspec plastic. Not a fan of paint myself.
They even put a spring in the rear doors so they don’t have to be modified like I did to my sons 4 seater.

Here’s the thing for me, not knocking it at all but for my use at home, the long wheel base is a drawback. For rock crawling it’s the ideal wheel base but only if it can handle a 35” tire, and I’d want more travel. If someone did long travel it could be considered, but i don’t personally think the wet clutch would do well with a 35 if long travel made them fit and I have the sheave ratio maxed out and it’s ok for the extremes on 32s but I wouldn’t like the gearing on a 35 so it would take different gearing in the tranny to make me happy.
I’m anti portals due to steering leverage but perhaps that’s the way to make it a crawler at that length. It will be interesting to see just how much boost that new steering compensates for.
I doubt it will ever be for me but a lot of people are going to like it.
These LWB models will be testing the CVT for sure. That new curb weight with normal accessories and passengers well over 3k lbs. And just to look proportionate sure lots of folks will do 32”+ at a minimum, the 30’s in those videos look pretty small.

It’s an adequate clutch to a 32 but yes another 3-400 pounds. I’m often that heavy with gear going on normal riding trips however. It will be fine!
The clutch is the same thing that started in an X model with a 27” tire and hasn’t been beefed up.
For larger than a 32 and in slow scenarios on vertical faces it just slips a lot and glazes.
The Rmax is capable but it’s not designed to do what I often ask of it if it’s modified from stock. Kawi had the same wet clutch in the Teryx but when they did the KRX the wet clutch went to a new level, knowing that 35s would be in play.
Yamaha clearly doesn’t intend for the Rmax to wear a 35 so there’s no need to upgrade the wet clutch.

I'm still waiting / wanting to see an auto/manual Paddle shifter transmission, geared properly, in the RMAX. Maybe one of these years.

Massive, do you know if (mounting / driveshaft / axle wise) there will be compatibility to allow a swap to the new selector switch and a turf mode rear diff?
Once I get my demo I can compare, but logic tells me both front and rear will have new mounting layout. There's ECU, wiring harness, EPS-integration, etc. that would be a major undertaking to retrofit an older model.

Guys, make sure you recheck the 1st post as I'm constantly updating videos when they come in to that page.

The PS boost will be great but I bet I'd bend even more tie rods!

Yes, assuming it’s enough boost for portals without going with the expensive Weller upgrade, one would still need ball joints, tie rods and HD rack.
It doesn’t matter which brand of machine you start with to convert to full crawler, it’s expensive.
I do think it would do amazingly well as a crawler machine on portals and 35s if done right.
It would need a serious cage chop or aftermarket cage though.

It will be fun to see what some people do with it and how it does in those scenarios!

We need a specs comparison between the new long RMAX and the 4 door General XP. Turf mode would be nice but I wish the new AVPro was backwards compatible. I wouldn't trade up for just turf mode. I wonder what the Vikings future will be with new long RMAX.
I think the Viking still has a place as a less expensive ranch machine with a bigger cargo bed but they need to get off the pot and put the 850 in it if there gonna keep it.

Wonder if the steering assist program can be used on older models or is it a completely different steering unit?
It's an updated EPS unit.

Glad to see they finally brought a long wheelbase. Personally, I prefer the simplicity of the rear diff without “turf mode” but to each their own. Don’t understand why the lwb is still so damn tall (82.7”) compared to competition. Also would have been a perfect opportunity to do full height doors instead of the shoulder bolsters.

I didn't get to cover the new tilt up windshield. Thanks for covering it Jared. You can pull the duct tape off now ;)

The fact that Yamaha brought the General 4 and Commander Max out for everyone to also ride to compare directly with the RMAX4 competition SLAYER is significant
