More updates: Keep in mind that these are not final products. Weather stripping won't be spliced like you see here. Rivets will be black and spaced differently for production and rear window perimeter plastic width will be reduced for a larger window.

I believe that by having the front of the upper window meet the roll cage more on the inside, it's going to make for less of a blind spot.

Is the frame made out of aluminum or plastic? Nonetheless, its looking better! Keep the pics coming MO.

You all have been hounding us for updates and rightfully-so, but please keep in mind that the window covers that you see in these pictures are going to be much tighter around the frame on the production run and were thrown on for picture purposes. The black fabric is ballistic Cordura and the vinyl window itself is fairly thick (specs updated once I get them). The windows are velcro'd around the frame so if they get damaged or need replaced you can order a replacement. The front window has a zipper so you can roll it down for ventilation. A rubber seal is also used around the door frame.

An outside FRONT door latch is provided via old-school style pull-up door lock (sorry for the low res) and this can be used even with the framed upper doors removed. The REAR doors will have a passthrough to access the stock inner door handle. As you can see, these will work with a variety of front windshields that use clamps. A front inner door pull will also be provided, which is something I wish even the stock doors had so you're not pulling on the door sill that could be covered with mud.

An inner sub frame will be provided to beef up the existing door structure as simply bolting to the stock door frame alone can pose long term durability issues. The sub frame is a one-time install and stays in place if you decide to remove the framed upper doors.

As you can see, there's plenty of visibility but the black fabric surrounding the frame may be made a little wider.

The RMAX4 rear window is 2-piece and the rear section is secured to the roll cage. UORP would like your input on what you all would prefer: no need for a REAR zippered window or if you would like a REAR zippered window and if so would you like it in the back section or in the door section? I'll probably do a formal poll after gathering some opinions.

The RMAX4 doors can be purchased as a 4-door kit, or if you're like me, and really only care about the front, you can choose to only purchase front doors. UORP will also offer a cab separator between the front/rear.

Side view mirror mounting options are being worked on as well.

Price for the RMAX4 is projected to be $1250 plus shipping.

If any part of the rear door section unzipped I'd say I would just want the door itself to open.i have these mirrors.

Spent a few hours with Greg a few days ago test fitting the new uppers on mine. They fit great, are sturdy as hell and seal up very well. I drove it about 20 miles at varying speeds and not a rattle, slap or wind ripple like the Yamaha uppers. These are top notch! Took them off to wash off the road grime from traveling to see Greg and had them off in 5 minutes and back on in 10 after washing it. It's a little harder putting them on by yourself, than taking them off. No big deal, though. Once they are on and adjusted, no more adjustments are need when removing and re-installing.
You guys are gonna love these. The only downfall, on mine is the outside mirrors won't work with them. I'm working with Ride on Gear for mounting ideas. No big deal, for the quality of these uppers, I can live without side mirrors in the winter when the uppers are on. Great job, Greg!

So as a result of testing, it was determined a latch needs to be implemented at the top of the door to prevent it from pulling away from the cage at high speeds. Don't hold me to this, but we're looking at September time frame. Keep in mind UORP is a side business and Greg's primary business is way behind on production thanks to Brandon.

#74 ·
Thanks for the update. I'd much rather they work through R&D before I buy a set , than have them rush into production with design flaws like many other expedited aftermarket products out there.

Keep us posted ! 🤞

#123 ·
Hold your breath until July. UORP has been slammed with their primary business but these are still due for release tentatively for July. Fronts are done. Rears are being finalized.

#136 ·
Just an update. Pricing will be available in the next week or 2 and the previous door latch has been replaced by a much simpler and easier solution.

From Greg via FB post:

"Well it's been an interesting month or so. We did some testing in June and decided the latch mechanism didn't get along with dust and water. It worked but not to our satisfaction. We went to Colorado in July with a new latch and it worked well. Decided that DP latch was the way to go. We made the necessary changes to make that work.

It involved changes to the door frame and a new bracket. Then 3 weeks ago we got hit by a tornado that ripped the roof of my shop that we assemble and prototype in.

We continued on with the project at our other facilities but have had a huge mess to deal with. Luckily no humans or Horses were harmed.I have a new roof and everything was moved back in last weekend. We have made the 3d weld fixtures and are tweaking the plastic.

We have ordered all of the materials for the initial run and should have them all in the next 2 weeks.
We hope to start manufacturing after that and will be shipping in early October in time for the season.

The final price will be $1595 delivered for the 4 seat to the lower 48 states. Canada and Alaska may be an option but there will be extra freight costs. The 2 seat will be shortly after that.
I appreciate the patience but after the Alaska fiasco we really wanted to make it right.
It will come with the clear poly on the window and the nets will be optional in the future. Most importantly it will be made in the USA.

I am enclosing some pictures and you can see Romeo Barrera videos to see what it will function like. With the new DP latch there will not be a mechanical and no secondary operation. You just pull it down and it latches. No zippers. The clear poly will be replaceable if it gets scratched. The door will be removable in 10 seconds. You can get in and out with the doors in an 8ft wide enclosed trailer. It will work with Yamaha glass and poly windshields. It will have score lines in the plastic to make it fit either. It will work with other windshields with some notching of the plastic but we can't make score lines for any option but it's just a matter of trimming the plastic.
We purchased a vault some time back to make sure we exceeded what was already out there. If anybody wants a deal on a 4 seat vault with 10 miles on it I can make you a screaming deal but it has to be picked up. $1300 in Wisconsin.

The initial run will be 50 sets but that may change based on responses. Once we start it will go fast we are staffed up and almost ready to go.We will be making more as we ship. Once the initial run has been completed we will be stocking them. I will not take deposits but may create a list.
I am sorry for the delay but we wanted to make something we could be proud of and run on our machines. That involved actual real world trials. I have put over a thousand miles on it and made adjustments to the design from our extensive testing.

This is the plan and I am confident in the new product. Thanks for your interest.

I will update here as we progress.
Off to fight with the insurance company."

I’m crossing my fingers they make it removable like the spike brand ones for the General. I know I keep saying this everytime I post about the upper doors. But maybe it’s so these fabricators will agree and do it too!!!!

Significant update on the doors. UORP has decided to go with a plastic window frame vs fabric-type covering (steel rod mainframe is still being used). There are multiple reasons for this:

-much easier and faster to produce
-more robust for off-roading hazards
-better tolerances from set to set vs hand-sewn fabric covers
-easier/better cab sealing
-clear window insert is easier to remove/replace
-should have less flex, hence less flapping than a fabric covered door
-the clear window is velcro'd in so you can roll it, remove it, replace it with something you fab yourself like a net or hard window (this hasn't been tested so you're on your own for experimentation)

Installation instructions for the Unique Off Road Products framed upper doors:

Keep in mind that after the weatherstripping breaks in you may have to perform micro-adjustments and maybe remove a spacer or two and the spacers are also provided to accomodate variations from one RMAX to another. I didn't have to use my heat gun on this install and if you install on a warm day or in your heated garage, you should be fine, but if you install in really cold temps the waetherstripping will take longer to break in. I do recommend you wax your vinyl window inserts to help keep them clean and resist dirt.

Paint guard tape: https://amzn.to/3u2JuHq
Rivet tool I used but hasn't been in stock for awhile, plenty of similar ones on Amazon: https://amzn.to/49jVxQr

Some other points vs the competition: As you can see from the video, you can install these without hacking up your vehicle and are true bolt-on. I will follow up with a video of features and other tips.

The front door latch is included with the framed upper doors and was made available separately after the fact. The rear doors you open by reaching in through the bottom of the window, which is velcro'd. Should be available this month and unfortunately you'll have to wait until they're released for pricing, although they should be cheaper than other framed upper door offerings but comparably-priced with soft cab options. Sorry I can't give you anything solid on pricing.

These are patent pending and yes the rear doors for the RMAX4 will also be gullwing. The patent is the main thing holding us up right now. The doors are easily removable by 2 hitch pins that the door pivots on (and detaching one end of the gas cylinder). The velcro window can be removed as well. Price for the RMAX2 will be under $1000 plus freight.

Notice that this will work with your existing light bar mounts and it will work with any windshield but you'll have to trim the molding and slightly notch the plastic to clear your clamps.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. Glad to hear no one was injured.

Ode to the UORP timeline...

How do you think I'm going to get along
Without windows this winter?
You teased me with everything you had
And left me out on my own
Are you happy, are you satisfied?
How long can I stand the cold?
Out in the strip mines the frigid winds rip
Man this is getting old, look out

Another month bites the dust
Another month bites the dust
And another month gone, and another month gone
Another Month bites the dust
Hey, I'm gonna get you too
Another month bites the dust:p

Apologies if that song is stuck in your hea now, lol

Psssstttt!! Greg, move this guy to the bottom of the list!! :p

"UPDATE ON UORP UPPER DOORS

THE GOOD NEWS

All pre-ordered doors will ship on Monday. I will be turning it back on to accept orders shortly. We will have some in stock with the second run being complete. I believe we have addressed the mixed hardware issues experienced with the first run. We have also found parts for the DP latch with less resistance, so they are easier to open. The 3rd run is in process now and should be complete before Christmas.

THE BAD NEWS

We test shipped some samples before we started shipping regular orders to check boxes and freight costs. We averaged $65 for freight per box. There are 2 boxes per set. When we shipped the first run out over the entire run they averaged $150 per box. $300 per set. We didn't fare well on the first run margin wise. So any new orders will see a price increase of $150 dollars. We are willing to eat part of it but we can't be doing this for free. I took a poll and everyone said they would rather raise the price and have freight included instead of a big surprise when they checked out and saw a huge freight bill.

I am not happy about the amount of money going to Ups considering the way they treat our product in shipping. People near us willing to pick up can reach out and we can offer a better price if we can work out the meeting arrangements. As we increase production we are hoping to start getting better raw material pricing with bigger orders, if that happens I will adjust pricing accordingly. We are starting to see some slowing of the economy do to Bidenomics so hopefully prices on raw materials will fall as the economy slows. Not really good news for us as a country but should slow this inflation we have been experiencing. As always I will share the good and the bad.

Yes we are working on the prototype for the 2 seat. It is entirely different geometry with the curved roll bar. Hoping to have something by the end of the year. SORRY.
Thanks again for supporting a US company. We appreciate all of the orders and know we will always respond and resolve issues."
