I like the new 6 speed auto shift with lower gear.
Far superior to the Honda tranny IMO.
Budro: Out of curiosity what makes you say that the new 6 speed auto in the YXZ is far superior to the Honda 6 speed auto? I migrated from a Honda Pioneer 1000 to the Rmax because the Rmax is definitely more on the sport side of things, but I did really like the dual clutch 6 speed with a low-high sub tranny in the Honda. I've never been in a YXZ so have no way of comparing the two.

Ink wiring minds would like to know.....🤔

We had a Honda at work and just easy cruising it was fine but if you pinned it you'd better have your HANS on because it was pretty violent shifting.
That was a few years ago, maybe they're better now?

First off, I’m not an expert on either tranny but my opinion is solely based off of reading about the high level of tranny issues on the Talon forum over the years. I once had an interest in the machine before the Rmax and KRX came along.
Every machine has its problems and fix’s and the YXZ has also had some failures but most of the knowledgeable owners and drivers of them will say those clutch and 3rd gear failures are from improper driving and shifting from people who don’t read a manual or let anyone and everyone drive the machine.
I believe that the new 6 speed auto over the old 5 speed is going to take care of those issues for the YXZ.
Still, in comparison to read on either forum about the trannys, the volume of negativity is far higher with the Honda.
A lot of people have beat on the old YXZ doing things it’s wasn’t designed to do and the tranny has really been quite reliable.

As stated above, most owners of the Honda that I’ve talked to weren’t a fan of its shifting or its constant search for the right gear, but then I’ve never driven one.

My opinion of course is personal just based on my own research over the past years of both machines.

I'm hoping for a cool 10th Anniversary YXZ.😎

But just don't change the whole thing yet....

A manual transmission would be ideal for the Rmax4 for me but I would settle for an extra gear "over drive" for flat ground/highway. It's so loud cruising the back roads with my kids. I have considered trading to a pioneer but don't want to lose my off road advantages.
