X2 mpg

I put my first 79 miles on the X2 and filled it up with gas again. It took 4.5 gallons which is 17.5 mpg so far. That was a lot of short runs and not much sustained cruising. I bet it goes up a little from here. It's about the same mpg i was getting in my Pioneer 500.

I put another 40 miles on it after that fill up. 😄

Wow are you spinning the tires alot? Many people are saying their X4's are getting in the 220-230 range on a tank. I myself did about a 150 mile adventure recently in my X4 with 2 buddies in it and the big ice chest and when I gassed up the next day it took 6.3 gallons which would be about 23.8 MPG. So with the 2.9 gallons still in the tank it would have been about 219 miles that day on the full tank.

I'm spinning the tires every chance I get! Once the new-ness of all this hp wears off I'm sure I'll see better mpg. But still impressed with 17.5. My range in the P500 was 100 miles on the best day. 60 miles if i was in a lot of sand. 4.5 gallon tank.

My '17 R-spec gets about 16-17 mpg up in the mountains at elevations ranging from 4,500 to 6,800 feet. A lot of it is climbing, so I wonder how much the elevation affects the mileage? I know the climbing does affect mileage, but then a lot of it is 'coasting' back down hill too. The riders with the new X2 model may be getting good mileage at lower elevations and not so much climbing? Just wondering . . . . . :thinkerg:

I'm at 5000', use 87 with up to 10% ethanol and got about 20 MPG when my rig was new, and that went down to 18 MPG as I wore my tires down to 25". With my new 27" Terrabites, I may be getting more than 20 MPG but I haven't gone through a full tank yet on them. I do have a machined sheave installed as well with near-stock weights and a swiss-cheesed airbox lid.

My gas mileage is fully-accurate since I use SpeedoHealer to calibrate my speedo to GPS, stock is off by 2 MPH at around 50 MPH with stock 26" tires. As far as I know, I"m the only person on the 3rd planet from our solar system using SpeedoHealer (it's not like I own stock in it or any of the vendors I support carry it), so I'm curious Wolvyman how you're calculating your mileage as you have 28's installed, which probably puts your MPH/odometer at 2 MPH/Miles faster than actual. Are you using distance traveled via Google maps or something similar or your trip meter?

I do think you'll get better gas mileage just cruising with your larger tires. What's your elevation? Do you have the Yamaha big tire kit installed or are you using stock sheave weights?

I don't have big tires yet. I'm going to be putting Rip Saws on but they will be 26" tires too... just heavier. The Rip Saw 26" also seems to be a little taller than the Maxxis 26".

My 700 varies a lot depending on where I'm riding. HMT about 20, our trials around 8.
