Just wondering what's involved to mount a winch..is there provisions there for it..or do we need a mounting bracket kit or something..?..
Haven't seen a Wolverine in person yet

You will need mounting plate number 2MB-F28M0-V0-00
Anyone know of an aftermarket winch plate yet, need one to handle a Superwinch Terra 45S. I've been Googling but no luck finding one I wonder if the Viking plate will work on the Wolverine.
Dealer told me that kfi will have an aftermarket plate ready in a week or so

The kit from yamaha comes with the mounting plate, hardware, and wiring. You could just purchase that, then drill new holes for the Superwinch if needed. However, many aftermarket winches share a similar bolt pattern.

I spoke to a KFI representative today. They have the Wolverine mounts produced and had to finish the installation manual. They are going to be boxing them on Monday 6/8 and can be ordered over the phone starting that day. I was interested in the mount because the stock one will not accommodate my Pro Vantage 4000s. He said even with the KFI it will require drilling. He did not give me an exact price but mentioned that it was about $50.

I'll be drilling new holes in the yamaha plate in the morning to shift my kfi 4500 over a little so it will squeeze into my yamaha brush bumper
I ordered my winch mount from KFI today. It was $50 and the guy said it would ship out today. Last week they told me that they were produced but the installation manual was not ready yet. The rep said I could order one on monday because they would be ready. I called and the manual is still not complete but he said he would sell me one, I would just have to install without the instructions. Should mount up pretty easy. I have a bigger winch so I am already planning on drilling new holes.
I got to thinking after ordering it and wonder what type of finish this thing will have on it. The bars on the Wolverine have that nice course black finish that is resistant to scratching.

Can anyone who already has the Yamaha OEM mount tell me if that mount has the same finish as the bumper and cage?
I'm skeptical about the factory coating. I had it on my 2014 grizzly and it started coming of the rack

My factory mounting plate appears to just be a normal gloss black painted finish.

EP, that sucks. The finish on the cage and front bumper is the same thing they had on the Rhino and I always thought of it as pretty durable. It doesn't show light scratches like the gloss black that is used on other brands.

How big of a pain is it to wire up and install a winch? Anyone done one on their wolverine yet? Seems like it wouldn't be to bad with the battery being up in the front there but still I've never installed a winch.. I understand electricity and am not mechanically challenged but looking for some tips I reckon for where to mount the solenoid and how others have ran the wire and mounted the switch for it. I assume these winches come with some directions but you know those technical manuals and directions can be vague...
It wasn't terrible. I took the whole front fascia/cowl off to do mine, it made running the wiring easier. I relocated the 4wd switch to the other side of the steering wheel, and reused the old 4wd hole for the remote socket for the winch. I mounted the contactor under the hood, above the battery, on the left wall. It's an easy install if you accept that you are gonna have to tear some shit apart to run wires and just take your time and drink some beers.

Here are a few photos, sorry they aren't the best angles, it is tight in the garage right now lol. The last picture is of the back of the winch remote connection.

Moving the 4WD switch to the other side seems like such a better place to me
Did my winch myself. Wasn't to bad, only took an hour. I like tinkering, and have installed several, so it was pretty straight forward for me. I mounted the plug in the glove box. I just keep the controller plunged in. The gasket on the plug works great for keeping it dry in there.

I received the KFI winch today and it looks just like the factory mount without the wires. They shipped the mount out to me without the directions because they were not ready yet. Would anyone be able to post a picture of the installation instructions for the OEM winch? Unlike the OEM winch, the KFI has several holes on the base of it to accommodate several different winch sizes, brands. For my particular winch, I have to drill two holes and I am not exactly sure how to mount it.
I will see if I can find the document still.and post it up for you.
Thanks TruckMan, I had emailed support and they had the directions available in a PDF and I got them this am. It is basically the same mount as the one for the viking.
