Used a 2 inch thick memory foam mattress topper, cut to fit and doubled up. A friend of ours made a cover for us. We used 5 gallon square craftsman buckets from Lowes in the footwells and use tethers to their harnesses to the the tie downs in the bed. We put orange pool noodle on the cross member behind the front seats to protect from hard bumps. And finally a set of Ducks Nets which are wonderful, even though our boy still likes to poke his head out from underneath. They did very well on their first ride though!
Have any of you guys cut off the small little plastic bumps molded into the bed at the ends of the seat rails so you can slide the backs off without taking the front rail bolts off? I'm pretty sure those little plastic protrusions are the only things stopping them but wanted to check before I actually cut them. Just trying to make taking the seats out as quick as possible, I replaced the hinge bolts on the seat bottom brackets with hitch pins so I don't have to take that bolt or the brackets off every time.
Yup those are the ones, the one on the driver's side fits with the lid on, but can't put the seat all the way back. The one on the passenger side I can't get to fit with the lid on and we have to turn it upside down.
