Just to help someone else out, my tilt also quit operating. I ordered a new one and tried to figure out how to get the gas rod out without taking the steering wheel and the hundreds of bolts holding the dash. I measure from the lever on the new rod up to the attment hole. It is about 3/4" of an inch. I then drilled a 1/2" hole or what ever size it will take to get a 10MM socket in the hole. Do this on both sides of the steering housng to accdess the top mount bolts. THen you can the top botl out and the bottom bolt and the rod will come out. It is a bit of effort to get the new one in, you will probably need another set of hands, but it can be done and save a ton of time.

 

Has anyone else had any problems with the tilt wheel breaking.
My tilt lever popped out. Ordered new dampner but just wondering if old one can be repaired for backup. Looks like spring broke
