I'm going to try one of these, water and dust resistant, sunlight readable screen, gorilla glass, and they make some really strong locking vehicle mounts that rotate for these, going to stick it in the center dash. Lots of used ones available low as around $114.00

I took JIMBO's idea and ordered a Getac, 1 1/2" RAM mount, and roll bar mounts from eBay. Took it out today and was really impressed with how well the GPS tracked us. I downloaded the Polaris app and it seems to work great. I originally wanted the Owlshead app but something wasn't compatible with this device and the app. It wouldn't load all the way and made the tablet super slow. I almost sent the tablet back, buck decided to try a different app and I am happy with the Polaris app. First pic is taken from the driver side rear seat. Second is taken from my eye level looking up at tablet. Really glad I found this forum for ideas. I really like the tablet mounted up above also. I've been looking on here for a couple months now. There was supposed to be an android update available for these, and I was going to increase storage as well. Haven't got one yet, but I figured it's toughness would out weigh the shortcomings. Keep us posted on how it works! Also, how does the screen look in daylight?

I need to set up Bob T’s maps on a tablet. This is an older thread, what’s a recommendation for a tablet?

Does the tablet GPS work without cellular or wifi?

Yes, that's exactly what you want, that's the same one I have. They say Samsung has the best GPS.

This is the case and mount I currently use. I mounted the base / stand to my dash, and the case snaps into it at 4 corners, nice and low profile. That's a ram mount in the picture, either will work with a thin case.
