I was finally going to get to ride my side-by-side today when it was warm it up I noticed I had a radiator hose leak. It is the one that I plumbed in from the heater exit back to the radiator I believe. It hooks into the y up front. I have it covered with 1” heater hose to protect it. The hose is leaking inside the larger hose somehow and spitting fluid out in between the 2 hoses. I am planning on changing out the 5/8 line and either covering it with braid or getting a heavy duty hose maybe even a puncture resistant hose if they make them. I really don’t understand how this can be leaking inside the 2 hoses. Maybe the outer hose rubbed a hole on the inner hose. I can figure it out. Any way can someone recommend a good hose or braid for this. It needs to be protected from sticks that get under the cab. If anyone can help thanks.

Hey Jomo, here's my thought. Get a piece of electrical flex conduit, the kind that is not metal, and poke the STANDARD heater hose through it. This stuff is really tough and its slick on the outside. Anything trying to poke it will most likely slide it to one side or the object will slide to the side. It's not like any type of rubber hose or cloth covered hose where a stick will grab on it. I cut it to length all the time, and its tough. A sharp knife will do it but you really have to try, and you have to bend it while cutting it. If you do that, its easy but you can't just stab it - and that's what you want. Something you can't stab. I also think it will be OK with temperature from a heater hose. This is what I use to run my wires from front to back under the machine for wiring accessories so its really handy.

Take a look. Search for: nonmetallic flexible conduit

It comes in many sizes just like electrical pipe. Maybe choose a size that's a 1/2" larger than your heater hose outside diameter. Good luck!

That is a great idea but what worries me is that the same thing is going to happen a leak on the inner hose. Maybe it was a faulty hose or maybe I damaged it pushing it through the larger hose I remember it was tough getting it through 6 feet of 1” to cover. I am still totally stumped on how it could be leaking inside.

Rubber radiator hoses are not leak proof, they sweat water through them like a osmosis membrane. You actually lose water concentration over time with them. Silicone hoses are tougher and do not sweat water. Not that I use water in my coolant system, but I do use silicone hoses.
