This thread is something I’ve waited a few weeks to begin. I wanted a way to document what I’ve done other than my meticulously maintained hand written notes. I’m ready to begin.

Thanks for the idea Massive. Might never need post 2 but it’s here if I do.

Dropped it off back at Johnny’s race shop for the cage chop. He’s the one that hand fabbed my bumper off the OEM bumper after the EMP bumper let me down by violently twisting each way while winching.

I have a 72” tunnel under a 4 lane highway I need to get under to ride 18 miles of technical trails. No tunnel crossing no riding. I previously fit with scraping on the stock 23.5” tires. Now that I’m running 26.5” tire (27” Dirt Commanders bought used from a RZR bud for $200) I’m too high.

The blue tape mark’s the start of the 72”. I built a template in my garage to match the 72” height of the tunnel.

Hey buds I’m starting with this to kick off the thread but more later - in no order - everything I’ve done to make this machine what I want.

Here’s a picture with the OEM roof and stereo, a before picture.
I started with the speakers in the rear on the OEM soft rear window they could poke out. Went for the summer thing and SuperATV had that killer sale and ended up with hard rear window. Was going to cut it for the speakers and then they sounded so much better in the front. Subwoofer overhead under the roof with hard rear window was the ticket.

I’ll post when I can. Thanks for looking and all - and I mean all - opinions are welcome. If we were on the trail and I said speak your mind... I’d hope you would.

This isn’t in order it’s my thoughts as I share them. Tire change at 1500 miles from stock tires to 27” Dirt Commanders what comes on 2020 XT-R. 829C450B-5105-46B3-AEBA-44E60F471CED.jpeg

That last one is a great shot of the bumper Johnny built off the stock bumper.

[Edit: this post is one I’ll update as the mood strikes me. Meaning as it gets put into words.]

Local trails are tight 20-yr 4-wheeler trails. On stock tires I’m 59” wide at 72” HIGH AT AT TREE TRUNK as I am at 59” at the wheels. Sides of hills and most trails have horizontal pitch changes. RZR’s tilt in at the top. 4-Wheelers are riders on horses they lean. The Teryx is the one I follow. He bounces off tree sides and sometimes I do, but sometimes I clear. We always make it, sometimes the chainsaw roars. Sometimes we plug tires or just air up. The 2-seater Teryx boasts storage behind the seats and this veteran is prepared.
I first followed him when he was at full height. He aired down to go through the tunnel. He scraped very bad. He later chopped his machine 3”. Six posts cut, 3” out of each. I still follow him on trails.

Top chopped (or as I like to say it, Chop Topped).

The tunnel crossing is 72". The 27" tires raised me up to 73.5". Johnny took enough out I can probably run 28" tires next time. I ordered a flat aluminum piece for my roof. It won't stick up as high as the OEM plastic roof.

This is what was removed.

A couple of pictures of the location that dictated the chop.

Whew baby...that's still going to be tighter than a you know what with that aluminum roof on there! Unless it's the angle the picture was taken. How many inches are between your bars and that wood mock up?

I'd ease in the first time in case the concrete isn't level. :)

What was the purpose of that hole in the hill? I wouldn't give it the dignity of the other word.

No way over and down the side of the hill?

There's a four lane highway or something above it. He said no way around it.

The chop looks good. Can always quickly air down, then up if he ever needs more room. Ha-ha!

Oh wow, super bummer. Then looks like a flood water overflow channel under it.

ATV's will fit!!!

Too long to jack hammer the base lower. LOL

Temporarily put the factory roof on for tonight’s ride. The real story was the 1.5 hours putting in the back window.

I like the line. I’m pleased. Didn’t give anything up.
