I just got a Rmax2 and want to put some LED pods. Are any of you guys running pods on the A pillar? Would the A pillar mounts work with the OEM glass windshield? Or is mostly everyone running light bars on roof?

I'm running pods with the Yamaha brackets under the headlights. I don't like bars on the roof. For me it makes it hard to see in dusty conditions. IMO lights (bars or pods) below your eye level help in those conditions. A pillar mounting is nice too as it keeps the light low and you can adjust them from the front seats if you need too.

I have cube lights and side rear view mirrors both mounted to the A pillar using the Tusk mounting bracket from Rocky Man ATV and the A pillar mounting bracket for cube lights with the Yamaha Glass Windshield.

That’s the way I was thinking of mounting the cubes and side mirrors. Glad to hear it works. Do you have any pics?

Are those the round lights? Are they spot or flood?

Not much room between the A pillar and the plastic side pieces that help secure the Yamaha glass windshield for the mounting bracket nuts, but is doable. Have to use an open end wrench on the nuts, with it turned in just the right position to hold them, and then turn the bolt to be able to tighten everything, unless you want to go to the trouble of completely removing the Yamaha Glass Windshield side plastic pieces.

Why all fog lights used to be yellow, and mounted on or around the front bumper area :) ... good reminder.. I didn't think much about the 'dust' aspect.. but it would act just like fog... I may have to get a 2nd set of pods ;)

I used Extreme Metal Products pod mounting brackets to put 6" pods on the A pillar. Why 6"? Because I had some that were supposed to go on my Grizzly for plowing, but never made it.

My mounting brackets are stacked on top of Tusk mirror brackets. If you only use pod brackets, the stock pillar bolts will be long enough. The Tusk mirror brackets came with longer bolts that were still long enough to stack both brackets.

I think it looks pretty clean. I don't need a full roof light bar because it doesn't get dark during the Alaska summer and I just needed some extra light during the fall months. I have plastic clip-on covers installed to keep mud and rocks off of the pods.

I like mirror and light off the A pillar. I ordered the tusk mirrors and the emp light bracket.

When you get ready to install the brackets, it's helpful to have another person there to shift the cage as you remove and reinstall the bolts. Do one side at a time and it can be a booger to get a wrench on the stock nuts by the pillar.

You can loosen the windshield bolts just a bit to give some play in that gap.

Not the glass mounting bolts, the ones that hold the plastic to the A pillar.

What I found helpful, doing it by myself to install the side mirrors, was to only remove one of the cage bolts at a time. You can remove the lower bolt first, leaving the top bolt in place, put the lower bolt in the bracket (have the bracket swung out to the side loosely) put the lower bolt back in the hole and now remove the top bolt, swing the bracket in it's correct position and install the top bolt. This kept the roll cage from moving so I did not have a problem lining up the bolt holes.

This a great help!!!

Another help is to use a strip of duct tape to hold the nut on the wrench jaws as you fish it in the slot between the cage and plastic.

‘Obviously, this is not the cage nut, just for demo purposes.

I’m running two sets of led pods. The cubes are white spot and the rectangle are yellow floods. I had my friend custom make the brackets for me. He used 304 SST. I did have the emp brackets. Only hiccup was they were in the way of the flip up windshield. Also I wanted to run two sets of lights

The lights are Nilight on Amazon. They work great and very cheap. I typically ride in WV and the light take abuse from branches on the trails. Due to the abuse is why I didn’t spend a bunch on money on them.
