I did when I was riding there is a gas tank vent on the right side behind the seat under the bed. If you keep smelling the fumes go buy a lawn mower inline gas filter and install it on the end of the vent line. I did this and haven't smelled the fumes anymore.

I have never noticed fumes during normal driving but I have had mine leak gas when it is vertical. I got hung up on a hill with my nose in the air and gas started leaking from somewhere. It was leaking enough that I could see it dripping on the ground. It wasn't the gas cap so I am assuming it was running out of the vent hose. This happened after I had installed the filter on the vent line.

Wouldn't use a check valve. It does need to release if it builds up to much pressure. Don't want the tank rupturing.

Iv never smelled gas on mine. Did not even know about this vent line thing. That's weird they did it put a filter on it. How sure our we that there is a good reason they did not do that to begin with.
