UPDATE: The welds in question are only the vertical welds as outlined in this diagram:

90685

Models covered are as follows (RMAX4's). Note, this is for US customers only. Canada has its own notification protocols and certain Canadian models are affected as well.

2021 YXF10WPZM AN39Y 100101 to 100550
2021 YXF10WPLM AN39Y 100201 to 100390
2021 YXF10WPAM AN40Y 100101 to 100470

You should be contacted by mail if you're affected where visual inspection of the rear shock mounts for missing inside welds should be done (by the dealer), where if missing, corrective action will be taken. The procedure only takes 20 minutes and the dealer will put the necessary welds in. If you're going to buy a new RMAX4, you need not worry about this one as any will have this rectified by the dealer before sale.

So I want to emphasize: HAVE YOUR DEALER DO THE INSPECTION

But if you want to check yourself for your own piece of mind, it's hard to do as the shock mounts are very short (this is a good thing in my opinion since the shorter the shock mount, the less stress on the welds). You need really good lighting and a small compact mirror will help. Your phone won't fit far enough in to get a good shot at the inside of the shock mounts (at least on my LE model with iQS). Driver side is harder due to the exhaust being there.

Here are shots using a mirror. You can see there are welds, but you could easily make the mistake they're not there. Passenger side:

My sequence is #209.

Very curious what the fix will be. I cant see allowing welding to be done, so frame replacement or some type of strengthening bracket?

Mine falls in at 100505 so unless they already took care of it before delivery I expect a notice by mail

If those are vin numbers looks like some very early units.

Welding tubing and angled coupling are a high skill requirement. Even countless orders of magnitude when it an assembled machine. Quality control inspection is near impossible IMO as few angles can be viewed I am sure.

I wouldn't want any dealer to do it. They're not even licensed welder skill in there dealers. No need to be. A lot depends on where these a located for sure.

Mine seems to be this model and falls in as 100172:

2021 YXF10WPAM AN40Y 100101 to 100470

Bummer. I guess I wait for my letter.

One of the late ones coming and you got one. Wow, amazing how they've missed so many. Do they not have inspector, quality control or leave it to the employee to do it right (assuming they're briefed in detail on their job). Maybe its a 3rd party supplying the frames.

So, maybe a dumb question, but are the 4 seaters the ones affected? YXF = RMAX4?

Sounds like you are OK. Makes sense actually because the 2 seat & 4 seat RMAX's have totally different rear shock mounts.

2 seat:
90360

4 seat:
90361
