Just took in my ‘23 Rmax 1000 LE 4 for first service. Got it back and rode it around my property and then hooked a trailer to it to move some cut firewood over to the firepit. After that I took it down the road to clean mud off tires. I had it In sport mode and accelerated to 3/4 throttle and let off the gas and smelled exhaust, I looked back and a huge plume of blue smoke came out of exhaust. I turned it around and took it back home and called dealer. He told me to run it to get temp up and see what it does. I took it down road about 2 miles in trail mode and turned around and put in sport mode on the way back. It seems to be worse in sport mode , still smoked after accelerating and letting off gas but not as bad. I dropped it off at dealer but haven’t heard anything back yet. Any ideas , possible oil overfill from dealer, fouled plug or crap machine 😂? It was broke in the right way and never had that issue until after I got it back from service. Kind of depressing after spending 30k on a machine with 180 miles on it.

Many of them get overfilled by the dealer or owners on the first service.
Start it up cold and let it run till the fan kicks on.
Shut it off, pull the stick, wipe it off, reinstall without threading it in and see what it says!

Honestly most of us have stories about dealers that screwed up something basic on our rigs on pick up when new. Be it over or under filled fluids, upside down roll cage components or whatever. That’s why most of us tend to do our own service, at least we know it was done correctly. Not everyone wants to or is physically able to do their own service and I completely understand that. If in the future you decide you’d like to do your own there’s a ton of step by step on here regarding virtually everything service, maintenance, modification or repair related. If you can’t find it feel free to ask. We all ask all sorts of things all the time.

As for the smoke, I’m betting your dealer gives it back and couldn’t find anything wrong. I’d also be willing to bet they train an undisclosed amount of engine oil out because it’s overfilled as the others have said. Check your air intake drain to be sure there wasn’t any blown into it and if they did transmission and front/rear differential fluid change might be a good idea to check those levels along with coolant just to be safe. All fairly simple and I for one would be glad to help you through it if needed as I’m sure several on here would be willing to help as well.

Thank you , much appreciated. I planned on doing all oil and fluid changes myself after the first service from dealer. I just wanted first one done by the dealer to satisfy Yamaha and the YES warranty in case there were any issues, which I obviously there might be at this point lol. I’m a do it yourself guy with things I feel confident with and I love to learn, but I’m definitely not an expert by any means , especially on these machines. I’m an avid YouTube viewer and will earn to work on this machine myself. I have no complaints with my dealer as well. It is a great local business that has been family owned/ run that has been around for as long as I can remember (25-30 years). I’ll see what they have to see when they call. Thank you

Hopefully all works out for you. Any questions just search it here. If you don’t find anything just ask. A lot of very smart and helpful folks on here. They’ve bailed me out a few times as well.

Oh and hit @TINKEN up for one of his dipstick extensions. They’re absolutely awesome. They’re a complete game changer for checking oil levels especially in the 4 seater. Here’s a link. All hardware and even the correct drill bit and Allen wrench are included to install and literally less the 10 minute install. Probably less than 5 minutes honestly. Here’s a link.

I definitely will , I did check oil level prior to calling dealer and the dipstick location is a pain to get your hands in and remove
What was the verdict? Is it overfull?

Cool (cool it seems to be a simple fix, not that it was overfilled) Did they mention checking the air intake? Overfilling can cause oil to blow into the intake tube. There’s a drain underneath for it.
