Off topic, but thought I’d share. My son and his best friend go wheeling with us a lot, my son on his Kawasaki KX250, and his friend on his Suzuki LT-R 450 quad racer. They have been talking about going halves on a side x side, so when I saw this one at a dealer where my son gets a good discount, I told them about it. Yesterday morning they asked me if I’d go with them to check it out. 5 hours later we got home.

They got it for a great price. It’s a one owner with very low miles. It has front and rear polycarbonate windshields, street legal kit, 5 bead lock square setup with 30”x9.50” tires, and swing away spare tire holder. It cost me about half the grass in my backyard yesterday afternoon lol, but I’m excited for them. The combination of high reving engine and sequential transmission makes thins thing a blast to drive.

Very clean install with the sub. And congrats on adding another toy the stable, that will be an awesome rig!!
Thanks! Technically I'm adding it to my stable, and I'll be helping them with maintenance and modifications, but it's their horse lol, they put half down in cash and got a loan for the rest. I'm happy they took my advice and got a Yamaha. The YXZ is a tough machine they'll be able to beat on. I think they're gonna love it.

I'm jealous. I couldn't justify a YXZ for my primary toy because I need a back seat but to have one as a secondary toy would be awesome.
My wife and I were in the same boat. If I was in my 20's, a buggy type would have been perfect, but now I like being comfortable and able to carry 4 people and a whole bunch of sh!t 😆 . We made the right choice with the RMAX4. For our needs and what we use it for, I can't think of any other machine that could replace it. It'll be nice to have the YXZ here to play with, but for a full day of wheeling I'd rather be in the RMAX. Maybe I'm getting old haha

Love all of your innovative ideas. Your craftsmanship and attention to details make them look like factory equipment. Nice job.

I had a hard time choosing a rear window. I wanted a window that would open so I could get to my first aid/trauma kits, but didn’t want to give up hauling extra fuel for the bikes in our family. I ended up pulling the trigger on a SuperATV polycarbonate tinted rear and figured I’d just modify it to fit my needs when I have time. I’ve had the window since early November but my schedule went from a California trip to COVID to kids car repairs and then to Christmas. Just got a chance to mess with it this weekend. Still need to do lift assist or something to hold it up, but this is how my bed is set up right now…

That looks nice. Just a suggestion...I would cover that with clear guard. Once a year peal off and reapply it will keep it looking cristal clear. That one is easy to do your self.

Thank you, good idea. Is there a certain brand you’ve used that you’d recommend? I’ve used the 3M stuff on cars before but it’s $279.99 for a 50 sf roll, so about the same price as replacing the window. I’m guessing there is something similar that’s priced more reasonably. Any suggestions?

There are only a few films that work on plexiglass this is one of them.

They are pricey but you could cover that window about 6 times with that roll so in the long run would be cheaper then replacing the window 5 or 6 times. Another option is they make a formal in a bottle last time I looked was about $ 50 and with a cotton buffing wheel that is suppos to work good . More labor intensive but would save money. I believe that stuff is called NOVUS

The test drive went well. In light snow, 32 degrees, I held it between 50-54 mph for a couple of miles. It didn’t feel any worse than just standing outside. No real draft to speak of. We were pleasantly surprised. We have the full USA glass windshield and pipe insulation filling the gaps on top, Yamaha soft sides, and Mud Buster fender splash guards to block water/wind to the cab. Now to figure out a little bit of heat to keep the windshield from frosting up when it’s colder…

A little bit of a hobby/science project…I started with Massive’s Cheapie Heater idea. After discussing some ideas with my wife, we decided to try going a little bit further with his design so we could have more steady heat while idling. I’ll be right at the limits of the bilge blower max temp, so I made some 3x2 reducers that thicken the first 5/8” of the thin edge of the blower housing while also capturing a .015” aluminum sleeve inside the housing. I bent heat sinks to match the housing radius to try to dissipate heat, hoping to regulate the housing temperature to somewhere between the inside and outside temperatures. My mounting plates were heated and molded from abs sheets. If this idea fails, I’ll be out about $54 for 2 blowers, but I have a different blower setup in mind if needed. I still need to trim and reinstall my mudbusters, but I ran the rig at various rpms tonight for about 30 minutes and it’s done good so far. The blower housings stayed between 80-90 degrees. My order of 2-pin connectors is running late and I was one short, so I didn’t get to test as much as I wanted to. I’m anxious to see whether this works or it’s a complete failure.

Looks good. You may or may not want to consider adding a $10 fan blower/speed contoller. Slowing the air flow down some may make the air stay warmer. I used this speed control for my interior overhead fan and it works really well. It is infinitely adjustable where you can make the fan barely turn or wide open and anywhere in between.

I hit my pic limit last night, but that is what’s in the little black box ;) . I mounted the PWM controller under the hood and wired it to the little potentiometer next to the fan switch

hopefully my connectors will get here from Amazon today and I can do some real good testing. I know the rest of the system can handle the temps but I’m anxious to see if the blower housings are going to handle the heat or if they are going to melt

Very nice Sid ! If you have any problem with the plastic fan housing check into pellet stove fan it will be all metal and take the heat better and moves lots of air.
