I picked up a very well maintained 2019 x4 SE last year. I've experienced the hard starting issues since it got colder in the fall but now we are into 40-50 temps and the machine won't idle unless I drive for a few minutes. I can start the machine 20 times and it will die at some point 20 times. Sometimes it dies immediately, sometimes it takes a minute or 2. The thing I have noticed is it has progressively gotten worse.

I've put in new Iridium plugs, all different octanes, new spark arrestor, filters are clean, different levels of fuel in the tank trying to help the problem but experienced no improvement. The old plugs were bad but showed a lean condition and made me suspect inconsistent fuel delivery.

I know the machine was a part of the fuel pump recall but it doesn't appear to ever have been swapped out. From reading in the forums and online, my issues sound somewhat similar to the fuel pump recall. Once the machine is up and running for a few minutes, it will idle all day long. Runs great and strong other than the starting.

My question is.... does a rebuilt kit fix the same issue as the pump replacement? It looks like its anywhere from 275-350 for a new pump and roughly 75-100 for a rebuild from All Balls.

If its one of those things I just have to live with then so be it. Love the machine even with the issue. Thanks for any help.

I had a Kodiak 700 I bought second hand and had a recall done on it that was covered.
