    Broke drive gear

Well the dealer finally found out why it was sticking in reverse gear. They said it was most likely caused during power breaking it when I took it to the dealer for a clunk noise diagnosis now in everybody's $.2 would that really cause that. And would u think a new motor would be warranted for a motor that only had 20 hrs on it please help with advise

    Hey Iceman,

That is what let loose on mine and Yamaha replaced the whole motor. Mine had more broken metal bits inside so not sure if they will do the same for you. Also my dealer could not locate the 4 bolts holding the gear in place nor was there any score marks around the mounting holes to show they were ever there. 33 miles and it locked up in reverse in the middle of mounds ORV park. Winched it a 100 ft or so until she popped out of reverse then drove it back to trailer a few miles away making a lot of noise internally. I would post my ordeal that I posted on here several months ago but I cannot find it under my posts. Not there anymore for some reason. Anyway I have seen no others on this site with our problem so not sure what support anybody would have. FYI took me 6 weeks to get my machine back and during the second trail ride ( 1 month later ) my cv shaft went out and have been waiting to get to my dealer for the past 4 weeks (no room for me and not happy about it). I took to another dealer 2 days ago and we'll see how that comes out. Having not seen many have the cv problem so I'm thinking it got damaged when having to winch it while stuck in reverse and just let go while riding a few weeks later.
