    top speed 2017 r spec

did a 60 mile ride & got a chance to open it up, got to 52 mph & it felt like something was holding it back. almost like something was preventing it from going any faster. it is all stock. do they have a governor or speed limiter? if so, can it be removed. thanks.

Yes, gen 1 wolverines are governed at 52 mph. If you ad a Power Comander with the proper program you can get rid of the limiter.

Just go to the Hunterworks website. If you buy the power commander from them it will be preprogrammed for your machine. It will also fix the factory lean condition it comes with so your exhaust pipe won’t get glowing red and crack. If you install the Hunterworks greaseless sheave with the power commander you’ll get about 60 MPH out of it if that’s interests you but you’ll also get better low end for crawling around, snow, mud, bigger tires etc!

You get more RPM yes as I had read in one of their posts in the Hunterworks section. I believe it still has a top end limit of 8000RPM as I recalled from long ago which is around 1000RPM faster. These type of machines aren't intended to be speed machines. Even the Gen 2 although faster isn't like some of the 1000cc sports SxS

It runs out of power in high long before it gets to 8000 rpms.

Yep. 52 that’s all. Even if it had no rev limiter it may still not crack 60mph. Torquey yes. Speed no.

Well then it effectively is unlimited as its using all the power and self limited the speed. I can't and don't want to ride a trail that fast. One has to understand things can go bad real fast if something affects the control. Natural or mechanical and nothing like a deer or equivalent jumping out in front of you to throttle back. Just enjoy the ride at a civilized pace.
