    Wowzers!

Ok guys, I have a 2019 wolverine X2 r-spec. I love the machine and it has been everything I have wanted. I just hit my 200 miles/20 hour break in period and took my bike to the closest Yamaha dealer. I rented a trailer, drive it up to the closest dealership (not the one I bought it from since I took it to the cabin) to get it serviced. The technician said everything was good and drove it up in my trailer. I drive it back an hour and unload the bike. I start it up and immediately get a check engine light. I start and stop it a few more times and same thing. I disconnect the battery hoping it would start out fresh, but the check engine light is still on. I call the dealership and tell them What happened. They of course say they would like me to drive it back up for a diagnostic. Well it was a $50 trailer rental and about 5 hours of my day for the whole trip. Does anyone have an idea of what the hell happened in this 20 hour service? I drove it around and it drove completely fine. I did have it in 4wd lock, and it did sputter at around 47mph. Is that normal? I put it back into 2wd and it didn’t sputter and hit the 52 mph governed top speed. Little annoyed! Any help or direction. Would be greatly appreciated!

That has to be frustrating. Check the owners manual to see if these can do any type of self diagnostics where it blinks the light at you a number of times in some sort of code. Next I would give a good look at all of the electrical connections on the machine, maybe the dealer had something unplugged during the service and simply forgot to plug it back in.

Just did my 20 hr. inspection and the only thing that is electrical is spark plugs. I did not adjust the fuel injection synchronization? I agree with DIRTRIDER612 . Page 4-12 of our manual says the light will come on or flash. It might display an error code? My guess would be a ground wire. Why not also notify the dealer you bought it from to see if they can offer any suggestions. Last, with all due respect recheck your oil level. Good luck.

Bummer, in a situation like that. You need to test drive and load it yourself before leaving since you don't own a trailer. I assume they charged you for the service. Did you get the work order of what they did? I got my first service on mine last week and it was a well over 30hrs but 560km. I got a detailed work order from them.

Looking at my factory service manual...
It seems you can only read codes with the Yamaha diagnostic tools. Once plugged in it changes the POD to a different view in order to read codes. It connects to a port under the hood.

I figured it out as I look at every inch of the machine. I found a severed wire right next to the oil filter. It was ripped out from the oil pressure sensor which is a little under and to the right of the filter. They are shipping me an extra sensor with about 2 inches of wire extending so I can just connect to severed one with it. What a pain in the butt to say the least. Thanks for everyone’s input

Suggest you solder the wire connection with heat shrink tubing or if you are not so skilled, then use a waterproof wire nut, make wire a little longer and ziptie it up so the next numbnuts does not rip it off.

And btw next post for your machine please put in the X forum and you may get more X skill help quicker.

I'm glad you found the problem. This is exactly why I do all the work on my machine. Most of the service techs. get paid for how many work orders they complete, the faster they work the more they get paid. I don't want someone working on my stuff with a stop watch going.
