    ais blockoff plate

I see hunterworks offers and recommends an ais blockoff plate. What exactly does this do and is it worth putting on? I am ready to order a fuel controller but I'm unsure if I should get the plate as well. I also intend to put a tip on the stock exhaust if that makes any difference.

I have the AIS block-off plate along with the Power Commander V. It stops the injection of air into the exhaust which just makes everything hotter. Takes 2 minutes to install if you have the bed off doing the Power Commander install anyway. I recommend. With stock exhaust, I now have nothing glowing red hot. Makes a big difference.

Look at the tech article on the Hunterworks website for his explanation.

Simple stuff really. If you order the PCV, make sure you tell him you are putting a tip on the exhaust so your map is correct.

I have no idea what all that means, but read it several times on several threads already.

    Abell34,

I've heard the same as Open Trails has.

I see you're ordering the exhaust tip. Is that supposed to help performance, improve the sound, or maybe both?

supposedly the tip helps increase flow/ decrease temps. theres a couple youtube videos of the sound and I like it better than stock at least on the videos. I hope its not TOO loud though...

I just installed the PC-V this weekend and did get the block off plate. That was the super easy part of it. Getting to the connector under the airbox was the most time consuming. I couldn't get to it without removing the airbox which required removal of more plastic and the right floorboard. All was actually fairly easy to remove and fit back together but there is a lot to remove. Didn't do the exhaust tip as I am at the stage of life where silence is golden. Years ago I added performance pipes on my quads but I got tired of the noise so I have gone back to stock on everything except my 250R which I have tuned so well with the pipe, I will never go back to stock. I regress.... As far as the PC-V, I made a quick test drive around the place and it seems to run smoother on the low end (have hated the rough idle since new) and plenty of power. The UTV is so new to me I likely won't notice a big enough difference for me to compare too. I only have 15 hrs on it. But I am looking forward to it running cooler.

An aftermarket tip makes it run hotter with less restriction, it's more for sound than anything else. The PC-V is programmed to add more fuel to cool the exhaust temps in stock configuration or even more fuel can be added for an after market exhaust or tip.

So is the general consensus on here that it's worth it to get the Power Commander? I havent noticed the hot exhaust but I have noticed the idle isnt the smoothest. I've almost clicked buy about 5 times but I havent yet.
