    Oil overfill?

Took our two wolverines in for their first service. Didn't think to check the oil level, but did this weekend. One is slightly over the top hash marks on the stick - oddly it is even on one side and about a strong 1/16th over on the other side- oil level is at an angle on the stick of that makes sense.

Will this cause any issues? I loaded and unloaded them from the trailer and my wife drove it for ~10mins yesterday before I checked it.

Alittle over full is just fine, won't hurt a thing.

I have just noticed this and saw the dark markings on the knob of the dipstick. It won't go in if its not in that direction of the mark up. The curved stick must also be on purpose then.
I originally checked it cold and it seem quite high but i don't know which way it was before pulling it out. I started and warmed the engine up, shut it down, waited and did it again with the arrow up all throw the insertion. The oil was slight above the top mark of the hash. This is after the dealer oil change in Dec and 450km of driving before the 1st service which its going in for next week. Once the weather improves I'll be on much longer drives and be well over their preferred mileage. I am at 540km & 37hrs (it had ~19hrs when I got it at 90km).

IIRC the manual says check COLD or wait at least 10 minutes after shutdown before you check on level surface. These motors do not carry a whole lot of oil, but also do not pump a lot, as the ball and roller bearings do not require the pressure lubrication of a flat bearing type of motor like the 847 or your traditional auto motor.

I guess I have to be certain its in the arrow up direction (facing the rear when reinserting for checking).

Good to know about the bearings use in this engine. Is everyone using the OEM oil filter or aftermarket. Royal Distributing has a reasonably price oil filter half the cost of the Yamaha filter. It sound like a quality production. (Royal is as a huge Power Sports parts distributor here in Canada). MAXX is the filter brand from a quick search.

I seem to recall the dipstick had a bend in it. I found the arrow and only then could I insert it as well before with the arrow up.

I checked today and since it was service and there is no bend. Just straight, am I a loosing it??

I only use the Yamaha oil filter and oil. It’s the only thing I don’t mind paying extra for at the dealer. I change the filter and all oils every fall before it goes in storage (I don’t ride in winter)
