    2nd battery in X4

Need some advice/tips for installing a 2nd battery in my X4. Anyone have any pics out there and or some advice. I hear talk about installing the battery under the drivers seat, is this the case? I saw yamaha has a 2nd battery kit, will it work for installing under the seat? I need the 2nd battery due to having a winch, light bar and a stereo system. I plan on adding whips and a second amp. Any advice is appreciated.

It is supposed to be installed under the seat. There is also a wire preinstalled behind the dash where all the accessory wires are to connect the positive.

I run one in my 2016 R-spec, so not an X4. I just looked and the want $350 for the kit??? Damn just buy a battery box, a smart isolator, some 6 ga welding lead and make your own kit for probably less than half that. That's what I did

Yeah you can pickup a battery box for a U1 battery pretty cheap. I ordered one for a conversion I did years ago for my Kingquad to install the battery in the rear storage carrier and disconnected the under the seat battery. Its much higher capacity an cheaper. It worked well. Depending on what you're needing it for an isolator may not be required.

I looked it up for you all interested in doing something. Hold down straps maybe needed. I order a long one at the same time. https://www.etrailer.com/Battery-Box...a/DW03188.html

I have a second battery in my rhino just to leave the stereo on when down the pond or drinking in the woods. I plan on doing the same to the X2. It is nice to know you don't have to worry about not being able to start it after a day of swimming etc.

I was thinking to buy the kit from Yamaha. I know it costs more. But the rhino was easier with two batteries under the hood.

I used the kit from Yamaha. Easy to do, there is red positive connection already there from the factory that you connect to. The rest is cables to the new battery under the drivers seat. It provides nice terminals which mount above the first battery. Wanted the Yamaha battery isolator, so I know I have something they tested and will not cause problems down the road. It's worth the money and TIME it takes to install it. That way you get more riding time instead of standing around in the shop wondering if you did it right!

    Reviving this...

Is the area under the seat water sealed? I’ve had water up to the gas pedal before, pretty sure it would’ve been under the seat at that point.
Run it, break it, fix it.
