Rear shocks replacement on 2018 X4 SE EPS

    I have a 2018 X4 EPS SE

Both of my rear shocks have leaked during winter storage. I am looking for replacement shocks.

I don't want to buy back OEM since I think they will leak again. (and at 500$ each I don't want to waste my money). And I don't have any access to a shop to rebuild them.

I don't want to put 1000$ set of shocks on it since I am only a casual rider ( less than 100 miles per year) and I am not in extreme off-roading with my rig.

I fount these ( https://www.denniskirk.com/progressi...prd/585729.sku ) , wonder if it will fit. I am a machinist so I am able to make some bushings to fit the bolts.

Do you have any suggestion ?

    Thanks

I know you can get Viking 814s for just the rear for about $650 plus shipping. Initially I bought them for just the front of my X4 since I hated the ride quality of the stock shocks and wanted a little lift without using a bracket. I have been really impressed by the improved ride. In fact my wife immediately wanted the rear shocks upgraded as well. My kids complained about the jarring ride in the backseat, so I was outnumbered and bought the rears too. I just installed them this week and it’s a much more comfortable ride overall. Plus you gain almost 2” of clearance from stock. I have also heard good things about the bandit shocks. So for $1200-1400 you could really improve the comfort of trail riding in your X4 for both you and your passengers.

If the 2019 have the same self-leveling rear shocks as the 2018. They should fit.

I talked with a representative on the phone.

    The bolt holes are 12mm.
The ''hands'' of the shocks are 39.75mm for the top one and 30mm for the bottom one (if my memory is good) These measurement are the same than a stock shock.
The only thing is the Elka shock is 1 inch longer that the factory one. Around 21 inches compared to 20. (approx measurement on the stock shock, I measured it with a tape center to center of the bolt holes)

For the preload and other adjustment, you have to call and explain how your Wolverine is set-up. I.e. load carried, weight of passengers and gear, options that may add weight to your vehicle ( I have the full rigid cab on mine)

When I had talked to them, this set was designed for the old Wolverine, not the new X2/X4 and was told it probably wouldn't work since they hadn't tested or certified anything yet.

Do you think it will fit correctly?

I will soon know. I have ordered a pair of rear shocks from Elka. I have a 2018 Wolverine X4 SE EPS . As I said earlier, I talked with a representative to have the measurements. They are all the same except the lenght. The Elka have 1 inch longer than stock.
I will give you some news when I will have them on hands ( 4-6 weeks delivery time. they are made to order)
