South Central Alaska current trail conditions

Any of you 49th staters rode any of the trails in and around the Mat-su since the snow down low melted? Looking for info on Eklutna Lake trail, Knik Glacier, Eska Falls, Buffalo Mine, Peterville Rd, etc. Most of my riding is at or near Eureka and if previous experience is any kind of predictor, from 4 corners in is probably not passable yet. I have a chance of taking a nice mellow putt on Thursday before the mad rush starts on Friday. I don't know which trail I'll be taking, it won't be an 8 hr ride as I'd like to be loading up and headed back to the barn no later than 4 pm to avoid the outbound traffic crush. If anyone wants to tag along or allow me to tag along, shoot me a PM and see if we can get it worked out. Last great weather day this week, so sayeth Jackie!

I have been out several times in the Buffalo Mine area and rode over to Eska Falls last weekend. Minimal snow except in the higher elevations. The knik is easy going this time of year until late June when the glacier begins melting and the knik discharge cranks up. The Boulder Creek and Puritan Trail area is also good, as well as the Permanente Trail. Enjoy!

I was planning on getting up to Eureka this weekend with the camper and Wolverine, but plans have changed and I'm stuck in town. It's normally not that busy up there on Memorial day due to the limited riding this early. Normally there are ice ledges at the river/creek crossings and lots of snow and ice in the shadowed river bottoms after 4 corners (like down in the cottonwood creek/old man trails south of Monument). Last year I went up to Petersville Memorial Day weekend and was stopped by snow around 12 miles past the Roadhouse, made for a good excuse to pop into the new Roadhouse and check it out. They plan on being open Sat and Sun from their FB post.

MORSNO, Gotta love the shadows! Fathers day weekend is a good target time for the vast majority of snow to be gone except for some deep shadows. With that firmly in mind it doesn't help to scratch the itch to ride especially since Spring came a month early! Bummer that you are stuck in town.

First stuck for me this year! I think I woulda made it if I had hammered it when the nose dropped in, but those large logs jammed down into and partially covered made me hesitate as to what else might be lurking beneath the bog. That woulda been a sudden stop of the not good kind. Eska Falls Trail

Thanks for the ride report..... I'v been in that same mud hole with at ATV. Headed out in the morning to give our new Wolverine a break in ride at Jim Creek area. Not going to the Glacier, just riding in the wooded area before Jim Creek.

Had a great time driving the new Wolverine. Still well within break-in but it has plenty of power and speed for the short bursts I gave it. I am really impressed and glad to be off my ATV's and on this instead.

Hey guys, it looks like I'm headed up Eureka Friday morning for the weekend. I was heading to Petersville but the weather looks better up towards Eureka. Old pic, but still look the same and hopefully at the first gravel pit.

Wish I could join you. I'm stuck in town this weekend. Maybe I'll put together a Wolvy run and hot dog and smore event one Saturday this summer. Lol! Prolly like herding cats if it is anywhere near to fishing season!
