    Maine trail conditions

Here in Maine, things are getting off to a slow start for the season. The trails are taking their sweet time in drying out. The Downeast Sunrise Trail is usually the first to open during the last weekend in April but it will be at least two more weeks given the most recent trail check. Some of the trails in southern Maine wont be opening until Memorial day Weekend. I'm also told that the trails in northern Maine probably wont open until the middle of June due to a harsh winter and current flooding conditions. We are getting anxious to ride, our season is short enough as it is. Name: 57203970_2152021664852604_3674914571262361600_n.jpg

I've never ridden that trail. Our camp is in Kingsbury so that is where 98% of our riding is done. We may need to come that way. Keep is us updated please.

I've heard good things about the Kingsbury trails. I'm hoping to get over that way this year.

I've done Pittsfield to Greenville(straight up and back) and that was a really good ride. I haven't explored the trails east or west of that route, but it looks to be incredible and more technical riding compared to the DEST area. Not that I'm complaining, it's good to have various trail options both easy and hard.

Our trails in New Brunswick just north of you are about the same, winter was long and very rough on them.

Things just aren't drying out. The trails 70 miles north of me(Lincoln, ME) still have snow and ice on them. I'll be surprised if they open up by the beginning of June. Several riders are cancelling their Memorial Day weekend plans because there's no guarantee the trails will be open in time.

Yeah we were just talking about that yesterday. Everything is still so saturated. If the trails don't open a ton of local businesses will be losing a lot of money. Thanks for the update.

We've had rain heavy for several days and our ground was already saturated. Flooded norther areas of the watershed are filling up Lake Ontario our showline flooding has already started more than a week ago. Current rainfalls haven't flowed into the lakes yet either. I haven't been out any distance for weeks. Weather is so bad for spring. Very cold and very wet, we're all affected it appears.
