When the Yamaha Wolverine X4 was unveiled earlier this week, the multi-passenger UTV drew comparisons to the Kawasaki Teryx4.
With its short wheelbase and Twin-cylinder engine, it would seem (at least on paper) that the Kawasaki Teryx4 is the most logical comparison. Time to take a closer look…by the numbers.
Before we start, there’s something you should know. We’ve spent a lot of time in the Teryx4. And while we haven’t spent any seat time in the Wolverine X4 as of this writing, we had the chance to sit and chat extensively with the guys at Yamaha who designed it from the ground up.

I don't understand why they say you can't compare them? They are ridiculously similar.
Gotta call BS on this one. They went directly after the teryx and the pioneer. That market is where the money is.
I think this article is on to something. I agree they could have named the X4 something completely different rather than another Wolverine. But by maintining the naming for this new chassis I believe Yamaha is planning on bringing some of these newer features over to the X2.
Great handling good suspension, although the rear was too stiff. Very stable, planted feel. The motor is incredible. Very smooth and tons of torque. My wife was driving - we were in a test drive pack with four YXZs and she kept yelling "get out of the way", they were holding her up. If they every put that motor on an an R-Spec I'd trade up in a second.
