    New 2019 X2

    First post....

Picked up a left-over 2019 base model. I watched it sit on the dealers floor all year unsold, so seeing they were trying to move the left-over 2019's, I got a good deal. I am in SoCalif, and I think this model has to much of a "farm tractor" look to be very popular here. (I do see the occasional X4 around though.) People go more for open desert and dune machines, but there are also tons of trails and terrifying terrain, which is my preference.

First impressions: Have about 10 hours on it. Impressive rock crawler, although more ground clearance would of course be helpful. Love the strong engine braking. As I expected, the shocks are minimalist (at best), but Walker Evans Racing is local, so I see Santa bringing some new piggybacks....for my wife. The stock tires under steer terribly! My local (San Bernardino) mountain trails and fire roads are hard packed underneath, with a thin to deep layer of decomposed granite on top (with very little mud). This is coarser than sand, but finer than pea gravel. The front tires have absolutely no bite in these conditions. The rear tires are descent, but I will be looking for some rims and something else for the front. Also have a roof on order.

Overall, it looks like it will be a fun little machine!

Enjoy! They're great units. Agree the stock tires are junk. I went to Carnivores which I'm pretty impressed with so far.

Get bigger tires, that will fix your ground clearance issues.
29"s are the max with no mods and no rubbing.

I would go with a lift kit, some had issues with the high lifter. I have not. However with the SE shocks softened up to the max. bottomed out, my tires can rub the shock reservoir, not leaving a black mark. No Idea if or when the 3 1/2 lift was addressed??

I paid more for the R-Spec but was seriously considering the base model, then add the fancy WE shocks. I think you'll come out ahead or at least even. Enjoy!
