Oh no, I thought the 708cc was a bullet proof engine (as long as the gears didn't loosen and cause the pump to stop). Oh well.. Its what i have and got to ride and ride and ride until Winter comes again.

I think the PC5 addresses the biggest issue with making the Gen 1 reliable.

Its too pricey for me and my wife won't go along with it. She'd be saying its new and shouldn't need anything at 300km on the clock currently.

Explain it to her that it's as much-needed as your windshield, roof, or skids and that's not being added on for extra HP, but to address a serious flaw purposely-implemented due to tree-hugging policies. If you support those tree-hugging policies then chalk up to possibly having to pony $$$ for a top-end rebuild or worse a complete engine rebuild or you can spend a little now to save a lot later.

Oh, that's another big improvement of the X2/X4 over the Gen 1. Heated closed-loop 02 sensor. Have your emissions cake and eat it too, but without running dangerously lean to blow up your engine.

Massive O K. Great modification on the bolsters. You either have big balls to tear into that thing with a grinder or pretty mechanically minded or both to make that work like you did. I love everything about the X2 but despise those bolsters. Nice job and great video!

Thanks Ken. I had severe reservations in chopping up my X4 for that mod as it really didn't bother me anymore. If just one person who's partially disabled or has bigger issues with that door latch and copies the mod and can enjoy their X2/X4 like the rest of us I'll consider it worth it. If Yamaha Engineers see this and implement the mod in the next release or make a retrofit, I'll consider it worth it. I am mechanically inclined, just too cheap to invest in the proper\expensive machining tools (I'm a Harbor Freight guy). I've adopted BASF's motto: "We don't make the products you buy, we make the products you buy better."

To me the X2/X4 is nearly perfect. Any flaws it has are minor.....except for this one. It's a lot easier to do this mod to the X2/X4 than it is to mod the competition to be equal to the X2/X4.

I've owned both the Gen1 and now the X2 and the X2 is a major improvement over the Gen1. Although I like the looks of the Gen1 better IMO
