I am thinking of mounting mine on a plastic base and having it sit above the battery, centered between the two rubber battery hold down straps so I can still access the battery as well as access the fuse block.
    I used #14.

AJKelly, my concern with your mounting location would be ease of access. Can you get to if you were to blow a fuse on the trail?
Agree, there would be other areas easier to access.

However, it is the best protected area under the cowl for sure, as well as provides the neatest wiring. If I was into fabrication it would be fun to make the dash area people are using for the switch plate slide out to access everything behind it. Almost like a drawer on slides.

Just an update on where I mounted the fuse box. See the picture below, the box fit perfectly in the glove compartment. My stereo amp is directly behind the dash. Now I have another question; do I need a second battery? I'm running a stereo, light bar, back up lights, and in the future will be adding an LED whip and a winch. Who here has a lot of electronics added to their set up? I have all my stuff wired up through a battery disconnect kill switch and not on the keyed ignition. Name: IMG_0651.jpg

TexasCoyote, I have a light bar, LED pods, reverse lights, dome light, whip, radio, amp, 2-way radio, USB ports and a winch without a second battery. I have over 3000 miles on the original battery and I've never had any issues. I have everything set up through a main relay, so nothing has power when the key is off.

What about in the area where the tool kit used to be. Not very big, but very easy access.
