I did the same as you on the same machine.

Mine is fine without the clutch upgrade. But, I also installed a Weller reflash and an HMF Titan Quiet Series exhaust. The two combined seem to have given me back all of the power I lost with the larger tires/wheels, and then some.

What tires/rims did you go with?

    What do you hunt?

And...Welcome to the site. I'm sure will enjoy your X2.

Wolvie Hunter, I went with ITP Delta Black Steel Wheels much easier to touch up if you beat them up, one of the places I ride is Anthracite ATV Adventure Park and it’s very Rocky. Rode the Wilds Trail System last year in New Hampshire and it gave new meaning to Rocks lol

    Ooooh...nice looking Wolvie.

I see you've already added a folding windshiels (OEM?), OEM cargo box, rear view mirror and side mirrors (Seizmik) and possible a rear window. NICE!

When you have time you might want to put some info in your signature for the rest of us. Sounds like you're from out East?

In South Central Pennsylvania, Yes OEM Yamaha folding windshield, Rear Yamaha Clear Vinyl window, seizmik side mirrors, Warn 3500 Winch, Yamaha Cargo box, GPS and Trail Tracker. Have spare tire and wheel ordered and currently welding up rear spare tire carrier. Also installed 26 inch Boss Blue Tooth Sound Bar makes long rides a little more enjoyable. Will get busy on my signature box, to many forums lol

I say no unless you are getting in the upper 40's lb range or greater per wheel/tire.
Try it first and see what you think before clutching.

Upper 40 Lbs per wheel? My 2016 Gen 1 got new tires and wheel when new. 27x9x14 front and 27x11x14 rear. Loaded, with driver and passenger, the weight per wheel works out to be about 425 lbs each. A long way from "upper 40s."

I never drove it with stock wheel and tires, but the performance generally outstrips my 2007 Rhino and 2010 Rhino. I always use low range on steep climbs to avoid stress on the belts. And I have no idea what is meant here by "clutching." Some kind of aftermarket clutch?

Upper 40's = weight of a wheel & tire, measured when off of the machine. I use a luggage scale. Here are my tire weights - they are heavy: Paul65's thread - Post #83

Clutching refers to modifications to the CVT system. On a GEN 1 it can be a machined sheave, shim, combination of the two, and/or a slugged wet clutch. On a GEN2 its a machined sheave. The mods allow the belt to travel further, for lower lows and higher highs. In either gen the guys also play around with different roller weights in the primary. This changes when the primary moves. These things affect the ability to turn over larger heavier tires.
